We had our December 16, 2017 Recital at Free Range Brewing! What a great host and a fun location! Parents could relax and enjoy a cold drink while their kids had a fun little stage to play on. "Art is not some far off place.." -SuzukiStudents were practicing their pieces before they got on stage. Can you believe that half the students are almost done with the Bunny Ballads book!? So many lovely performances!! Much progress was made in just one month (since we had the Bunny Party/Recital) Awards are so much fun & I hope to always help students motivate each other through these silly banana awards! What is man's ultimate direction in life? It is to look for love, virtue, truth, and beauty. -Suzuki Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays!! What a fun last few months it has been. Looking forward to seeing what this New Year brings!
Photographer: Jessica Milligan It started out as an ordinary cool fall morning, but what they didn't know how much fun the bunny party would be! Students arrived and the teacher let them take their time to get ready because the power cord wasn't working for the piano and speaker! Siblings were excited to watch everyone play violin! ![]() Teacher announces the recital with the details of how to be ready while the next person comes up to play! A brave student starts off the bunny songs!! Off to the Garden.. yay! Students perform their favorite bunny songs for the parents! Students have fun socializing with one another.. :) Brave students face their fears to play in front of everyone! Congratulations!! We had 4 students graduate from the bunny book. A couple students came from a local music school & a couple students who just recently started violin at QCSV just graduated!! We all finished by playing mrs. Twinkle together with our butterflies on our bows!! A live rabbit, Mr. Charlie, came to visit us after our recital!! He was so soft!! We played some bunny games... Carrot Toss! We also had bunny sac races!! Pin the tail on Mrs. Twinkle!! Mrs. Twinkle baked yummy carrot cake cupcakes just like she did in the Bunny Book! All in all, we had a great bunny party this year!! Great job everyone!!
Tom Sykes Rec Center was a great host for our 2 week summer camp! Located on the same campus of Dilworth Elementary in a historic Charlotte neighborhood. We split up into two groups for weekly points earned from bow circle competitions, good behavior, and winning points from group games! We did some breathing exercises and put lavender oil on our wrists. Very relaxing! Then had a little yoga time! Yoga Monkey says..... "Namaste" We had violin lessons each day. This was a silly exercise to see how long we could hold ducks on our instruments before they fell. Bow hold races were a favorite for the kids & they are always fun for the teacher who likes to trick with a false start ;) "Ready, Set.... Go fish!!" We had different art projects each day! I love oil pastels. It was fun to listen to Tchaikovsky and draw with them. Beautiful pictures with the oil pastels!! Musical ABC heart <3 Learning our beginning music theory with Music Mind Games materials!! Blue Jello with drumming sticks!! Some students sharing the bunnies they have already learned on their violins with the class during Bunny Ballads story time! Woo. playground time! After both teams happened to end the week in a tie with 80 points each, we got to celebrate with an ice cream party!! Mrs. Kayla was our volunteer for both weeks & we had a blast having her with us!!! Dress rehearsal for our concert for the parents! It was such a great two weeks & I thoroughly enjoyed introducing all the kids to violin playing. Can't wait for next year :D
